The Third Person

Home wrecker. The name given to the third person in a marriage or relationship. Personally i have never bothered about these people as i have never met one. Whenever i see such characters in movies, i blame them entirely without a second thought for i believe destroying a relationship and betraying someone's trust is unforgivable. Till i met someone (H)  recently...

Often we see the first wives as victims and second wives as the monsters. But i came to know from her about the ordeals she has to go because she married an already married guy. I have no right to judge her and thus i would not pass judgement. Of course she knew very well that the guy was married when she fell for him. Love is blind and i guess she thought that the first wife would eventually accept her which is a normal practice in their community.

However, things did not go as she expected and the first wife threw a fit upon learning her husband's second marriage to H. Of course she cannot be blamed as anyone in her position would have done the same. Had she married a 'real' guy i think she would not have suffered this much. The husband failed to stand up for her and promised the first wife that he would leave H which of course is a lie to divert his first wife. H got pregnant and again the first wife abused H and poor H had to go through the pregnancy all alone. The husband secretly visited his new born daughter just once that too after 3 months. It's been 5 years and H is still very much with him though he only visits her 2/3 months once without the knowledge of his wife. I felt very sad for her when she said she feels like a mistress and not a wife and her daughter sees the father as a stranger who visits them once in a blue moon. She also showed me the self-inflicted wounds that she has as a result of the innumerable arguments she had with the husband and the first wife.

I believe her biggest mistake was of course the man that she chose. He gave her false hopes and ruined her life. It is very saddening to see educated girls to make such mistakes in life. Life is too precious to be wasted on  such spineless people. Of course love is blind but a little bit of common sense would not hurt.
