While every Indian around the world is still basking in joy over A.r.Rahman’s outstanding Oscar victory, this post comes in quite late. But still, it’s better late than never isn’t it?
As a hardcore fan of A.R.Rahman, I have always fancied his music and knew that he will make it big one day; the world will recognise his immense talent one day. And with God’s grace that one day has arrived. As far as I’m concerned, even without an Oscar A.R.Rahman is a top notch musician but with Oscar comes the global recognition and it adds another feather to his already full cap.
More than his musical intelligence and magic fingers, his humility and humbleness are what impress me a lot. Rarely do we see people who are flying high in fame to stick to the ground, have their feet firmly on the ground. But A.r.Rahman is such a person whose modesty is a known fact among his fans as well as the people from film fraternity.
Yesterday I had the chance to watch his Oscar speech and what do I say? No matter how far he goes, he is still the same media-shy man, man of few words whose music speaks volumes louder than him. It was a short speech but the best I would say. How often do you hear Tamil in Oscar function? May be never till him. The crowning glory of his speech was “ellapugazhum Iraivanukke”. How could a man be so modest? While there are so many Tamilians who are ashamed of the language and refuse to speak the language even within Tamil domain, this man proudly uttered those words on one of the famous stages in the world. That particular moment, I really felt proud to the highest degree. He made every Tamilian proud, and never cease to surprise me with his personality. You work so hard, achieve so much and when asked about your immense achievement you just shrug off saying it’s all the God and Mother. To this wonderful man, All the best. We are expecting a lot more from you! God Bless!!
